On Sunday, I was at
HullabaLOU. I literally had no idea that such a music festival would ever take place in Kentucky. Seriously. I mean, I’d heard the name of the festival before, but I automatically assumed it was held someplace cool. Someplace like, well, anywhere else.
Just kidding, Kentucky. You know I love you.
After a day of walking in oppressive heat from stage to stage in Churchill Downs, the sun finally took its daily break just as the closing act (Dave Matthews Band) took the stage. It would have been easy and completely justified to keep my eyes looking forward, especially considering that I was in the second row. But, if I hadn’t taken a look around me, I would have missed this:

It’s amazing what you see when you look in the opposite direction of everyone else, when you take your eyes off that shiny object for a moment.
This isn’t about standing on the ceiling or sitting in a different chair to gain a new perspective. This is about standing where you are and sneaking a glimpse around you at the things you might be missing, at the things most everyone else is missing.
When you do, the object that shines for you, whatever it might be, has a way of becoming even brighter.
