A couple of weeks ago, the TR team was privileged to find ourselves in front of Leigh Caraccioli's (aka @fleurdeleigh) lens. This movie, while nothing compared to the real thing, illustrates how that privilege looks and feels. However, it also speaks to three TR foundational principles:
Authenticity. Lifestyle. Purpose.
Not only were we, the TR team, living our… Continue
For those of you familiar to the world of online writing, this weeks topic is probably no stranger to you. If you’ve done any substantial amount of online reading over the past couple of years, you’ve most likely seen something like this in the comments section of any given blog:
“You need to break this into paragraphs. I can’t read it like this. You're welcome.”
You know how there are just certain “rules” in life? Like you can’t have 20”1 biceps unless you workout or you can’t control the weather? There’s no denying that you can’t be cool unless you are a dork first. I know the ladies might disagree but George Clooney was a dork at some point in his life. Nobody is exempt from this rule.
I love looking up definitions of words that we use in our everyday conversations, dork being one of them. With the advent of Wikipedia no word is safe. The definition… Continue

As Bill and I drink a Hite protein drink(not yet for public consumption) to Day 22 of my 30 day lifestyle challenge, and that means that there are 8 days left to go. With that said, instead of counting down the days, I find myself feeling a little sad that it will soon be over. What Amanda and I started has brought about some very real changes in our lives and I don’t want it to end. I have lived in an “as if” reality for 22 days…I have given myself permission to live “as if” I had the right and… Continue

If you’re playing along at home and read my post last week, “Writing In, Umm, Like the Same Way You Talk” (a.k.a. Writing Tip 1), you’re seeing that this has turned into a series. So, let’s get to my second tip for improving your writing:
2. Step away from the contraction.
In case you need a quick English refresher, a contraction is a shortened form… Continue

What happens when your significant other, and your best friend and business partner decide to spend 30 days changing their lives and influencing others to do the same? I suppose there are several options.
I could ignore them which is virtually impossible because if they aren’t blogging, tweeting or facebooking about it, they are talking about it! And on the rare occasion they aren’t talking about it their friends and followers are talking about it! So ignoring isn’t an option.
Option #2 - I co… Continue

Amanda Hite, aka @sexythinker let herself go to the dogs Sunday. It was Day 7 of our 30 Day Lifestyle Challenge and time for some spiritual renewal and stretching…Yoga Morning. Pre-yoga, I uttered one small (seriously small) whine and got some very strong “buddy” talk back from her about not turning back on our commitments as she informed me she was already on her way to pick me up. I struggled to find my yoga pants and had to settle for black bike shorts without the knee pads and a short tan T… Continue

I think it’s rather comical when companies boast that their ultimate goal is 100% customer satisfaction. Webster defines satisfaction as the following:
The contentment one feels when one has fulfilled a desire, need, or expectation; "the chef tasted the sauce with great satisfaction"
I find this so interesting because even when old Webster used it in a sentence he had to enhance it with the word “great”. My point is in today’s marketplace satisfaction only gets you in the game. You must do some… Continue

I’m sitting here tonight, thinking it might be time to offer something practical to those who choose to read what I post every Thursday. So, if you’ll indulge me this whim, let’s talk about writing.
The past couple of years have seen much debate over if the written word was on its way out, whether it’s a newborn relic to be replaced by the (seemingly) easier-to-produce video. Trust me, neither is easier than the other to produce. And, here’s another news flash:
I have to admit I’m a little apprehensive about tomorrow. Actually not a little apprehensive but scared sh…….less. What have I gotten myself into? In just 3 days I’ve gone from taking a few days to reflect, contemplate and make some needed adjustments to my life to an all out 30 Day personal revolution that is anything but personal and everything PUBLIC! And how did that happen? I mean, I went from a being stuck on a few key items in my life that really needed changing that I couldn’t ever seem… Continue

On Sunday, I was at HullabaLOU. I literally had no idea that such a music festival would ever take place in Kentucky. Seriously. I mean, I’d heard the name of the festival before, but I automatically assumed it was held someplace cool. Someplace like, well, anywhere else.
Just kidding, Kentucky. You know I love you.
After a day of walking in oppressive heat from stage to stage in Churchill Downs, the sun finally took its daily break… Continue

I love to read self help books. A – it’s cheaper than therapy. B – It beats watching Dr. Phil and C – I can always find a nugget or two I can apply to my life which ultimately makes it better.
Recently I picked up Wayne Dyer’s The Power of Intention and I can’t put it down. I love the concept and I believe it to be true. Dyer’s basic premise is that we get what we think about. It’s the old scarcity vs. abundance thinking. If we think there’s enough of the good stuff to go around chances are we… Continue

If asked why I would post this here I would immediately answer (because I have already given it some thought), that there is a sense of enthusiasm and vibrancy that exists amongst this group that I find lacking in many places. It is because of this that I would hope to see a conversation develop regarding the relevancy of one's visibility on the web. I know that may sound somewhat flip, especially when one looks at the growth rate of social media, but it is a question I am t
I’m out-of-town this week. I wouldn’t classify it as a vacation but, being on the Atlantic coast of southern Florida, it feels like it should be. Either way, being away from home on a trip that isn’t included in the list of TR’s Upcoming Appearances affords certain luxuries that I don’t seem to indulge when living the day-to-day. And I’m not talking about anything extravagant. I’m talking about something as simple as reading a boo… Continue

I know I can be obnoxious when it comes to my opinions about customer service but I have to share the 7 phrases that make me cringe during my dining experience. Some may think I’m being too picky or too critical. All I can say in my defense is the service folks in a restaurant are the brand ambassadors and everything they say or do either reinforces the brand or undermines it.
It’s different if the brand is ketchup or a can of soup. The soup goes in the can at the factory the label goes on the… Continue
