OMG--Have I been Retweeting my inner critic's tweets??? Great post Susan! I think sometimes we think we have eliminated our critics, but they just reappear in subtle ways. Being honest about giving your critic a part time job allows you to be real,…

Do you have an exit strategy for your inner critic?

I don’t have to meet your inner critic…I have my own. I’d offer to share him with you, but something tells me you aren't going to take me up on my offer. Just as well, because I've put mine on notice.

Bourbon & Branch

Sometimes, a little journey into the past helps us see the present. Enter, San Francisco.

Late last night, @sexythinker and I returned home after two days in that amazing city. The topic that made the trip possible was, of course, Social Media. However, one stop we made has helped solidify some of my thoughts for those who are beginning to enter the Social web. Bourbon &Continue

FOOD FOR THOUGHT - IS FAILURE A FORM OF SUCCESS?!

What is failure?

What is success?

Is success when you have achieved your goal and reached the end of your journey; or is it the systematic process of reaching that destination? If it is a systematic process there are moments where we will not achieve our intermittent goals as we designed. There may even come a point when achieving the end result is in doubt.

So we stop pursing our original goal and change course. What if the new course takes us to places we didn’t plan on, deliv… Continue

Shout Out: "The Transformation Decade" video by Futurist David Houle.

Futurist David Houle has coined the decade "The Transformation Decade".

I met David at a People Report Conference last year he was the opening keynote. He knew me by @sexythinker and I knew him by @evolutionshift on Twitter. I was engaged in every word he said. After his presentation I shook his hand, told him how aw… Continue

Sometimes when everything falls apart, the real change can begin

I don’t know about you, but I don’t particularly like it when it feels as if everything is falling apart. In fact, I really don’t like it. If you’re like most of us, you do about everything you can to hold it together…to keep the balls in the air…to stay in your comfort zone.

But sometimes, just sometimes, if you’re lucky…you won’t be able to hold things together. You won’t be able to stop the balls from falling…the seemingly worst thing happens…you’re laid off from your job in a recession and… Continue

Slow Down

Things are moving fast. Agreed? Often, it’s difficult to keep up with the pace of our own lives. For the record, I’m in a hotel room in Lubbock, TX after a day-long meeting, working on three things at once (this post not included), have another meeting tomorrow morning, fly home in the afternoon, have another full-day meeting on Friday, and then leave for San Francisco on Sunday.

And all of it revolves around Social Media.

The speed at which Social Media moves has become a blur for everyone in… Continue

Incongruent Service

Have you ever received service that didn’t fit the situation? As you may have guessed, I’m going to tell you about a recent experience of mine where the service was completely incongruent.

Susan and I are committed to at least one “Date Night” once a week. With our crazy hectic schedules this is a great way for us to refresh and catch up. We absolutely cherish this time together.

Last week we went to a nationally known chain restaurant to enjoy a bottle of wine and a nice dinner. The place was… Continue

The Social Media Revolution: A Power Shift from Brand to Customer.

This week, I discovered this powerful video, "Bigger than TV? Social Media's Power Shift" produced by Radian6 . I'd like to pass along and summarize my interpretation of that message here.

Is the Social Web really all that revolutionary? Or is it a fad?

Make no mistake, we’re in the midst of a revolutionary shift in how brands and customers do business. If you don’t start taking this ser… Continue

Your Baggage is NOT your Identity

If you are anything like me you have baggage…actually if you’re anything like most of the people I’ve encountered through work or friendship, you have baggage. We all have it…it is a human condition. The problem is not that you have baggage…it is what you do with it.

I used to fly with a lot of baggage. Being a “Perceiver” on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, I like options. I never know what I might “feel” like wearing, I never know what extra things I might need should I decide to spontaneousl… Continue

Boss....don't fly too high

Here is what it looks like….

Ticket Agents – The staff that ensure the positive experience of the guest and are face to face with the reason for business at the beginning

Ground Crew – Safety and Operations – delivers the product, ensure the safety, and adjusts to the changes in environment

Flight Attendant – Guides the customer through their experience

Pilot – locked behind some door and if procedures are followed I can see him on the way off the plane.

Now I have had interaction with all… Continue
